IHI, a company under Duro Felguera´s Oil & Gas business line, has been awarded a new contract for nearly 12.5 million dollars to run a project in Bahrain where it was not present until now.
The project will help strengthen its expansion in the Middle East, where it has recently successfully concluded a project in Saudi Arabia. It also has projects in other spots in the region such as Jordan or Iran.
Under this contract, Felguera-IHI will develop a project consisting of two cryogenic storage tanks for the Bahrain National Gas Company (BNGEC) with the aim of expanding the Sitra facilities.
Their capacity will be 100,000 and 200,000 barrels of butane and propane, respectively. The works, which will be developed on the “turnkey” basis (EPC), envisage an execution period of twenty months.
The project is part of the last phase of the Bahrain company’s strategic plan to triple LPG plants´ production from natural gas extracted in the adjacent fields and the surplus of the annexed refinery.
BNGEC awarded the EPC contract for the expansion of Sitra storage facilities to the main contractor, JGC Gulf International Co. Ltd of Saudi Arabia, a subsidiary of JGC Corporation in Yokohama, Japan. JGC, awarded the tanks works to Felguera – IHI.
In addition to the BNGEC contract, DF Oil & Gas has been awarded another engineering contract with ICSK for a cryogenic tank for ENAEX in Chile, a highly consolidated market for DF. The company will carry out the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) in order to provide alternative processing and storage facilities at the Chilean plant. The project´s value exceeds 700,000 dollars.
