Spain would save 754 million euro per year if it discontinued coal subsidies


According to the report “Cutting Europe’s lifelines to coal: tracking subsidies in 10 countries” by the think tank ODI (Overseas Development Institute), Spain spends € 754 million per year since 2005 to subsidize coal. The data has been informed by IIDMA who provided support in the preparation of the Spanish chapter.

Spanish Norvento continues its international progress in industrial self-consumption

Norvento, a Spanish renewable technologies company with comprehensive capacity, has installed two new wind turbines nED 100 in Scotland (United Kingdom) for industrial self-consumption. The Spanish company has a stable base in the UK since 2014, where it has expanded its industrial self-consumption business and has already installed 25 turbines.

Saudi Arabia to develop renewable projects


Saudi Arabia will develop renewable projects. In particular, 30 solar and wind projects – almost 10 GW – in the next 10 years as part of a $ 50 billion program to boost energy generation and reduce its oil consumption.

ECOLEC managed more than 87,800 tons of electrical and electronic waste (WEEE) in 2016


The Ecolec Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment, has managed a total of 87,862 tons of this type of waste throughout 2016, 7% more than last year.

Enel lands in Australia with the Bungala Solar project, the largest in the country

The joint venture between Enel Green Power and the Dutch Infrastructure Fund has closed the deal to acquire the first 137.5 MW of the 275 MW Bungala Solar project from local developer Reach Solar Energy. The acquisition of the second phase of the project is expected to close during the third quarter of this year.

Isolux tries to avoid filing for bankruptcy


After Madrid’s Commercial Court No. 1 admitted the company’s request for a pre-declaration of bankruptcy on April 5, Isolux has four months until August 5 to get the 400 million it needs to avoid to enter an arrangement with creditors.
