Everything points to the Micromobility, small vehicles, electric bikes and models that are friendly to the environment, such as hybrid and electric vehicles.
Mobility is not only a basic human need, but it is also strongly related to economic growth. This does not apply only to passenger traffic, but also to transport of goods, especially by road. The experts base their models on the assumption that there is a mutual reinforcing effect between transport volume and economic performance.
Due to the reduction of available resources and major challenges related to climate change, global demand for clean energy is increasing. A global radical change of mentality and optimization of all elements of the energy chain is required from the generation and transport to the conversion and use of energy.

The conventional internal combustion engine will lose importance through 2030 and will be replaced by hybrid and electric drives. Schaeffler has developed demonstration vehicles adapted to the market in each region of the world, such as the concept vehicle Efficient Future Mobility India, with an electronically controlled clutch, or the Efficient Future Mobility North America, which shows how to reduce an additional 15% in fuel consumption thanks to Schaeffler’s innovations for the transmission mechanism.
Schaeffler is actively participating in a new trend, the wheel electric engine systems eWheelDrive. With this engine, Schaeffler provides a dynamic drive thanks to its 40 kW output. The compact design of the drive modules in the wheel rim creates more space inside the vehicle and improves driveability. The highly integrated electric engine systems in wheels are key for new vehicle systems that will be needed in megacities.
Modern electric bicycles already represent the perfect solution to move in large cities. Thanks to innovations such as the wheel axle bearings with integrated sensor system and automatic FAG -VELOMATIC gearshift, Schaeffler helps set the electric bicycle as a means of transport of the future.
In the field of rail transport over long distances and logistics, the requirements are high. There is a need for faster transportation means that allow more flexible use possibilities and do not represent an important source of environmental pollution.
