Pioneers into Practice
The call with an annual periodicity is open to professionals, entrepreneurs, researchers, officials or businessmen with knowledge on climate change, proactive attitude and good English language command.
The PiP provides funding, training, counseling and placements in enterprises or institutions, national and international. The goal, according to José Luis Muñoz, responsible for Europe’s PiP program is to promote “innovation to meet the challenges associated with climate change, through the creation not only of products and services, but experts who understand the socio-technological change that is occurring.”
March 23rd is the deadline for nominations to qualify as “pioneer”. The PiP is seeking experts and professionals, the pioneers, with at least 2 years proven experience and dynamism. All participants in the program are relocated for a period of one month to enterprises or institutions outside their country. Guillermo Palau, responsible for one of such hosting entities, the Polytechnic University of Valencia, welcomes the “interaction with the pioneers” in his case focused on the management of natural resources, among others, the natural park of L ‘Albufera of Valencia. “The ideas focused on innovation and business generation provided by one of the pioneers were very interesting and enriching for experts in the academia area like us.”
Valencia leads the program in Europe
Valencia is one of the European headquarters of Climate-KIC. The main partner is the Generalitat Valenciana, through IVACE, who along with Foundation Community of Valencia – European Region (FCVRE), the University of Valencia, the Polytechnic University of Valencia , and two dozen of local partners have made of the Region a Spanish reference of this initiative to fight climate change.

In addition, Climate-KIC, headquartered in London, has offices in Berlin, Paris, Zurich and Copenhagen among others.
