Siemens Gamesa will supply 18 wind turbines for the largest land-based wind farm in Denmark, developed by the local company Eurowind Energy. The project will have a total installed power of 77 MW, enough to generate electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of 65,000 homes.
“We are proud to be the developers of the largest land-based wind farm in Denmark. It is further proof that this type of generation should continue to play an important role in the country’s energy mix so that Denmark remains the leader in the wind sector, “explained Jens Rasmussen, President of Eurowind Energy.
The installation of the Thorup-Sletten park, northwest of Jutland, will begin in October this year. In addition, Siemens Gamesa will be responsible for the maintenance of wind turbines for 20 years through a long-term service contract.
“We chose Siemens Gamesa because we were looking for a turbine that would adapt well to the high winds of the region and guarantee maximum quality and competitiveness. The adaptation of this model to increase from 3.6 to 4.3 MW, combined with the 130 meter rotor was key to achieving the lowest cost per kWh produced, “he added.

“It is rewarding for us to have been selected by Eurowind for this project and to be able to continue contributing to the transformation of the energy sector in Denmark. Every day, we work to offer innovation, technology and solutions tailored to our customers´ needs, “said Steven Pryor, CEO for Northern Europe and the Middle East of Siemens Gamesa´s land-based wind business unit.
Contract renewal in Italy
In addition, last week, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) reached an agreement with Glennmont Partners for the renewal of the operation and maintenance services contract for its Siemens Gamesa fleet, consisting of 236 wind turbines – 189 units of G52-850 kW, 9 turbines G80-2.0 MW, 33 G87-2.0 MW and 5 units of G90-2.0 MW – with a total capacity of 254.7 MW. These wind turbines are located in several wind farms in southern Italy.
The renewal of this contract involves new services and several improvements that reduce the cost of energy and achieve greater control of operation and maintenance costs. The agreement also includes a complete package of turbine operation and maintenance services for ten years.
In Italy, Siemens Gamesa has a total installed capacity of 2,219 MW and carries out operation and maintenance services in 64 wind farms, with a capacity of 1,667 MW, that is, 75% of the installed capacity in the country. The Services area of Siemens Gamesa is responsible for the maintenance of some 57 GW (onshore and offshore) in 62 countries.
