The World Day of Energy Efficiency was celebrated on March 5, a key date to reflect on the use we make of energy and act accordingly. Companies like Feníe Energía have joined in to support this day that encourages a more responsible consumption of energy. Energy efficiency involves getting the same energy goods and services using the least possible amount of resources.
The World Day of Energy Efficiency was celebrated, as every year, on March 5. The date invites reflection and rethinking about the use we make of energy, an exercise that we should all practice but not just on one day a year.
What is energy efficiency?
It is one of the mechanisms that we have for the fight against climate change, also highly valid for the goal of achieving sustainable-energy societies for the future. All this, hand in hand with the promotion and development of renewable energies and transport policies that reduce their impact on the environment.
Neither does this imply a sacrifice in our day-to-day life nor renouncing the quality of life, but to obtain the same energy goods and services using the least possible amount of resources.
How do we get this? With small actions such as recycling or using less polluting products and exercising smart consumption, which consists of not using more energy than we really need.
Energy efficiency initiatives
Feníe Energía has joined the initiatives to support energy efficiency by promoting a more responsible consumption of energy.
Feníe Energía markets 100% renewable energy and is committed to self-consumption and electric mobility, which it considers the key cornerstones of the current energy revolution.
With two wind farms, one in Sorihuela (Salamanca) and the other in Ourol (Lugo), the energy generation they produce is equivalent to the electricity consumption of 20,000 families. Both parks have a total capacity of 20 MW and produce about 50 GWh per year.
Another of the current problems that Feníe Energía faces is pollution. To this purpose, it is firmly committed to electric mobility. The company has the country´s largest recharging infrastructure and has installed more than 670 recharging points both public and private, 400 of them in this last year.
Some of the energy saving products offered by Feníe Energía are power optimization, capacitor banks, consumption monitoring, lighting replacements, electric mobility and self-consumption.
The Spanish Technological Platform for Energy Efficiency, under the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, works in favor of energy efficiency with objectives including innovation in technology for energy efficiency and the development of new techniques, products and services that favor the reduction of energy demand.
