The European Mobility Week is giving a great boost to the use of electric vehicles in Gijón. The Science and Technology Park of this Asturian city has come to an agreement with the company Going Green for the implementation of a car sharing service for electric vehicles to be used by employees of its member companies.
With this service, the Park’s employees can have a Peugeot iOn electric vehicle at their disposal to carry out their professional operations. This initiative is part of the CSR policy of the companies participating in the Science and Technology Park and aims at strengthening their commitment to electric mobility. Thus, their goal is to progressively increase their electric vehicles fleets.
The use of this service is intuitive and easy. Users have citizenship cards to access the vehicle, which can be booked through the website www.gijonsemueve.com, a fully integrated booking and customer care system managing queries and incidents. The site also gives
up to date information on the availability of the car and its characteristics, since the vehicle is equipped with a digital system that can monitor the main parameters of location. Users can recharge the car at the charging point located in the park”s facilities.
This initiative follows the steps taken by the Townhall of Gijón, which has played a pioneering role by implementing this system to its fleet – 54 vehicles to serve 300 employees – and thanks to this measure has saved so far more than € 400,000. (See news reported in EnergyNews)
