In recent months, the need for companies to find new roads for research in developing new products, has brought them even closer to the different universities.
This is the case of Ingersoll Rand company, committed to bringing the business community and the university together, through a conference on Turbochargers to the Industrial Engineering School senior students at the University Carlos III in Leganes, Madrid.
In the talk, held in the Turbomachinery classroom, emphasis was placed on the role that the drivers (turbines) and diffusers have in achieving the best performance with lower energy consumption.
Following the presentation of the basic principles of centrifugal compressor, the various elements that regulate and monitor the proper functioning of equipment as well as current trends were described. The centrifugal air compressor Centac C1000 of 125 to 212 m3/min, with a polygonal axis-driving turbines coupling, which creates a high precision adjustment and ensures a uniform torque distribution, was cited as an example.
After an exclusively didactic presentation, topics such as employment situation, work experience or market needs in terms of engineers were covered.
“We often hire interns from this university and believe that the ties between academia and industry should be strengthened for the sake of both, especially now with the Bologna Plan and the labor market situation,” explains Bueno
